Sample photo suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S III will have an 8MP camera

An image uploaded to Picasa suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S III will come with an 8-megapixel camera. The image has ever since been removed, so you’ll just have to trust me on this one.

EXIF data of the image 20120308_175456_HDR(1).jpg shows that it was taken with a Galaxy S III. EXIF data can of course be faked, but the wide selection of Samsung gear in the image could mean that this image was taken by a Samsung employee, and hence ups the odds of it being taken with a Galaxy S III. The resolution of the original image is 3264 x 2448, which translates into 8.1 megapixels.

The rather blurry quality shouldn’t scare you, since the name shows HDR in it. An HDR image shot indoors with poor light and freehand can not result in anything else than a blurry image.
